The Simmons SDX
drum system is extremely playable,natural & powerfull.The
kit is a extremely performance orientated - you the drummer do
not need to know anythingabout SDX- just play as normal.
Real Remo skins
playing back real 16 bit samples of the best drum/cymbal sounds
around. The current top kit consists of the following licensed
sounds-Bill Bruford snare/china crash,Nick
Mason Toms/Ride/Hi
Hat, & astounding cymbals and bass drum of unknown origin.
The kit is recorded
into Cubase via midi where it is fully editable/quantisable down
to the last beat.
Mixed on Mackie
1604 desk with a little or a lot of Lexicon reverb/effects and
monitored through Turbosound TXD-560 speakers.

      The Kit can
be up-to 16 piece including Rim shot, it is usually set up as
12 piece + Hi-Hat.The brain is a full blown 16 bit sampler workstation,
so the Kit given above is just an example.
      There is a serious
advantage in using SDX- in that because the drums are being recorded
      via midi
there are no microphones on the kit or on the Guitar and Bass
if the band uses the options available. This makes it possible for the
band to play totally live for the initial takes, with the vocal
PA full up and no headphones,
      also setup time
is reduced such that a band can, and often is recording within
      half an hour of arrival.
      This keeps spontinaity
and makes for better cd's.If in doubt come and try it before
recording. There are more details about SDX in the Writers
      section.
