Production of writers-dance & DJ based music can be taken up at any point.
From recording a live DJ mix into cubase for overdubing to importing a 90%
finished multitrack for a final vocal take and mix. Songs can be started at the studio
in cubase VST 32/5 written out to CDROM - PC or Apple - taken away to sort out,
maybe to return for final overdubs and mix.
If your music is predominately midi based there is a Opcode studio 5 connected via Stealth
Port (rock solid timing) to cubase on G4. This can accept up-to 15 devices simultaneously
and cope with just about any configuration. User friendly OMS (open music system)
controls this. You can use as many audio tracks as you like,
further details in Recording System.
You can bring multitracks on 4/8/16 trk digital or analogue - Potastudio or computer.
At Sub-sound a lot of high quality performance equiptment is available
and it's use is included and encouraged, more details in the Live Bands section.
The studio main sampler is Simmons SDX. This is a fully blown
16 bit X 16 channel sampler, if you have a good midi file of your drum sequence or
stored in a drum machine it can be turned into a killer real drum track through a
combination of Cubase and SDX. The best way to thinkof SDX is as a Akai sampler with a
severe bias towards being a drum kit. 16 X Sony DA converters onboard produce a
dynamic sound. Further info in SDX Details.
Whichever way the songs are recorded, the final mix is recorded via Lucid 20 bit
ADA 1000 into another computer for stereo editing in
Digidesign Sound Designer 2. Discs are cut from there using Toast CD Pro
including crossfading of adjacent songs if required.
